Found a turtle after hours?

If you find a turtle after 6 pm most temporary holding stations and rehab centres will be closed for the evening and you will need keep the turtle over night - dropping them off the following day.

If you must keep the turtle overnight please do as follows:

  1. place it in a well-ventilated container with a lid

  2. find a quiet, cool, dark place to store the turtle over night

  3. do NOT provide the turtle any food or water

  4. ensure all pets and people stay away from the turtle

You can place a towel in the container under the turtle but ensure the towel is dry. This can provide them a little comfort but is not required.

ALWAYS HAND THE INJURED TURTLE TO STAFF AT ONE OF THESE LOCATIONS.

BE SURE TO PROVIDE THE EXACT LOCATION THE TURTLE WAS FOUND!

Perth Veterinary Clinic is a Turtle First Response Centre for the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre! They are another great location to bring turtles although they are not one of our Temporary Holding Stations.

If you find an injured or dead turtle in the Kingston area and you are unable to bring it to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, we have temporary holding stations whom would be happy to hold your turtle. These holding stations will temporarily look after the turtle while Turtles Kingston arranges its transportation to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre.
